Under the Box, Beyond the Bounds
Hiraki Sawa's highly distinctive and meditative film and video installations from the last 10 years are beautifully presented in this new book from Tokyo publisher HeHe.
Published to coincide with exhibitions at Dundee Contemporary Arts and Tokya Opera City Gallery, 'Under the Box, Beyond the Bounds' covers works from 2002's intimate Dwelling, through to more recent complex installations including Lineament (2012), and Lenticular (2013), made for Dundee and influenced by the Mills Observatory. Innovatively designed, the book also includes a small bound-in 'notebook' of Sawa's sketches.
Includes an introductory essay by Graham Domke, exhibitions curator at Dundee Contemporary Arts.
