Nancy Holt: Photoworks

Nancy Holt’s photoworks constitute a major body of work by one of the key artists of the late twentieth century. Many of these works have never been reproduced before now, a function perhaps of Holt’s success as a site-specific/public artist and sculptor but also her role as custodian of Robert Smithson’s legacy. This first in-depth publication of her photographic oeuvre recognises the full extent of Holt’s important and innovative contribution as a pioneer in site-specific art and film and video work. Holt (1938-2014) is one of a group of important international artists who initiated the Land Art movement in the late 1960s and her work is represented in many major museum collections worldwide.

'Photoworks' features images of Holt's key works such as Pine Barrens (1975) and the iconic Sun Tunnels (1976), and two new texts on the artist by Ben Tufnell and Douglas Fogle.
